A cafe in Japan is hiring paralyzed people to to control robot servers in order to still make an income. Ten people with conditions like ALS and other spinal cord injuries are currently employed at Dawn, according to Sankei. From home, they operate the OriHime-D, a 120-centimeter (4-foot) robot that communicates, moves around and handles objects.(Source)
The above picture is from National Geographic’s Instagram feed - this guy is a master’s student at BYU, is studying black bears, and went into the den armed “with only a short aluminum pole attached to a tranquilizer dart. The tunnel was only as big as the bear with no escape except a very quick 50 foot backwards crawl should he decide to charge.”
conspiracy theory: it’s strange to me how so many of the most populous cities are close to 21 million…….
this probably has to do with population density and rising costs of infrastructure as you increase said density. 21 mil is likely a naturally reached middle point.
